It's A Record 7 Straight Shutouts

FRESNO, CALIF. – The NAIA's No. 1-ranked Azusa Pacific Cougars gave first-year program Fresno Pacific quite a welcome to the GSAC with an 11-0 shellacking in the first-ever meeting between the 2 programs in Fresno.

The win is the Cougars' 11th straight victory and seventh consecutive shutout, which ties a school-record set during the Cougars' 1998 national championship season.

Freshman Stephanie Bays (pictured) scored the first of her 2 goals just 5 minutes into the match to open the floodgates, and 5 minutes later freshman Erin Arbizu tallied the first of her 2 goals, giving the Cougars a quick 2-0 lead.

Senior Andrea Alfiler also scored 2 goals as 9 different Cougars found the back of the net.

The Cougars led 5-0 at halftime, out-scoring the Sunbirds 6-0 in the second frame.

Through 8 GSAC games, the Cougars have outscored their opponents, 31-1. With just 2 GSAC games remaining, the Cougars can clinch at least a tie for their second consecutive conference title with a win over The Master's College (9-5-2, 4-2-2) Tuesday afternoon in Santa Clarita.

With the win, the Cougars improve to 11-1 overall, 8-0 in the GSAC. Fresno Pacific falls to 4-9, 1-6 GSAC.
