Unbeaten Streaks Run to 12 In a Row

AZUSA, CALIF. -- The NAIA's No. 2-ranked Azusa Pacific pushed its unbeaten streak to 12 in a row with a 4-0 GSAC victory over Hope International.

The Cougars, who haven't lost since suffering a 1-0 overtime set back to Cal State Northridge on Sept. 5, scored 3 goals in the first 26 minutes of the game and then emptied the bench for the remaining 74 minutes of play to cruise in for their seventh straight victory over HIU.

Freshman Babatunoe Ilori, who made his first start of the season, recorded his first collegiate goal and assist to lead the Cougar offense. Ilori scored the game's only goal in the second half with a tap in of a Michael Dwinnel cross from the baseline. Earlier, Ilori assisted on junior J.D. Rotteau's second goal of the game. Rotteau's first goal came when headed a 30-yard pass from sophomore Jacob Ward past Royal keeper Roger Pena at the near post.

Azusa Pacific started the offensive show in the sixth minute when Dan Wilson picked up his seventh goal of the season, heading a Jeff Johnson cross.

With the win, the Cougars retain their 1-game lead over second- place Vanguard in the GSAC. The Cougars improve to 14-1-1 overall, 6-0-1 in the GSAC. Hope falls to 2-11 overall, 0-7 in the GSAC.
