Biography

THIS YEAR: Perhaps one of the finest keepers in Azusa Pacific history, senior Scott Strahammer looks to conclude his collegiate career with a banner season . . . Needs just 7 shutouts to break the school record for career shutouts . . . Currently is No. 2 on the Cougars' career GAA list ... Has good skills with quick hands and feet. 

2000: Earned second team NAIA All-American recognition and named to All-GSAC Team . . . Set the school record for fewest goals allowed by spearheading a defense that surrendered a program record-low 11 goals all season . . . His GAA of 0.53 was another school record . . . Played every minute of every game in goal . . . Improved his career record in goal to 28-9-4 after leading the GSAC champion Cougars to a 17-2-1 record . . . Dropped his career GAA to 0.84, the lowest of any Cougar goalkeeper who played more than one season . . . Finished with 11 shutouts, one short of the program-record 12 set by Jason Vlcek in 1996 . . . Made 8 saves in a 1-0 win over Cal Baptist, 1 of 5 consecutive GSAC shutout victories . . . Allowed 1 goal or fewer in regulation in 19 of the Cougars' 20 games. 

1999: Started all but 1 game as a 1999 sophomore . . . Collected 3 shutouts and combined with a Cougar backup for another . . . Fashioned a 1.17 GAA, allowing 23 goals in his first extended taste of collegiate action in the goal . . . Made a career-high 9 saves in perhaps his best outing as a Cougar in a scoreless 150-minute marathon against Westmont in the NAIA Region II Semifinals in Santa Barbara . . . Stopped 2 more shots in the ensuing shootout to lead the Cougars to the Region II Championship game with a 3-1 edge in the shootout . . . Made 5 saves en route to a 4-0 shutout victory over CS Monterey Bay. 

1998: Played just 13 minutes of his 1998 freshman season, appearing in 2 games . . . Collected 1 save and did not give up a goal. 

1997: Attended Azusa Pacific and worked out with the team, but did not play in a game. 

HIGH SCHOOL: Prepped at St. Viator High in Arlington Heights, Ill., playing 3 years of varsity soccer . . . Set a school record with 25 career shut outs . . . Was a key reason the Lions finished third in the 1997 state championship tournament, their best showing ever on the state level . . . Served as team captain . . . Ranked as the state's third best goalkeeper by the Chicago Sun-Times . . . Rated by the Chicago Tribune as one of the area's top 5 keepers. 

PERSONAL: Born April 2, 1979, in Chicago, Ill., to John and Ella Strahammer . . . Has a twin brother, Chris . . . Was a sports writer for the school newspaper and served as writer/correspondent for Chicago's Daily Herald ... Majoring in social science.
