IRVINE, CALIF -- The No.5-ranked women's soccer team added on to their best start in program history, knocking off Concordia (1-7,0-3) in the GSAC opener for the Cougars, 5-0, Saturday afternoon in Irvine.
Sophomore Andrea Alfiler gave the Cougars an early 1-0 lead in the 14th minute as she drove home a direct free kick from 20 yards out.
The score would not change until the 55th minute when Melissa Myers tallied for the Cougars. All-American Kendra Payne dropped the ball to Myers 14 yards from goal and Myers buried the shot to make it a 2-0 lead.
Janay Duran, Jolie Robison, and Payne each scored goals in the final 30 minutes to round up the scoring for the Cougars (10-0, 1-0).
Azusa Pacific returns home for its GSAC opener Wednesday night, October 7th and plays host to Southern California College. Kickoff is slated for 7 p.m.
