Over 4 Hours and 35 Runs Later, Cougars Win

AZUSA, Calif. -- Senior shortstop Jason Young's bases-loaded single to center scored Hondo Godinez from third base to lift Azusa Pacific to an amazing 18–17 nonconference victory over Chapman, Wednesday evening in Azusa.

The game, which took four hours and 26 minutes to play, appeared to be a blowout when Chapman was staked to a 8-0 lead in the second inning. However, the Cougars rallied and even owned a comfortable 17-11 lead after the seventh inning. But the Panthers came back to knot the score at 17-17 when Jason Moeller lined a single over the first base bag to score Matt Barcelona with two outs  in the top of the ninth inning. However, Panther reliever Alan Martinez came on in the ninth and walked 2 Cougars and hit another to load the bases and set up Young's game-winning heroics. Young finished the game 4-for-5 with 4runs in two RBIs, the other coming off of his first home run of the season, solo shot in the fifth.

It was just a week ago that Azusa Pacific beat Chapman by a paltry score of 7–4 in Orange.
