Cougars Push Win Streak to 15 Straight

AZUSA, Calif. -- Azusa Pacific plated 5 runs in each of its first 2 innings to take a commanding 10–4 lead and went on to post a 14–6 victory over Chapman in a nonconference game Tuesday night in Azusa.

The victory pushed Azusa Pacific's winning streak to 15 straight, one shy of the school record set by the 1993 Cougars.

Cougar right fielder Darin Schorr's 3-run double in a second inning blew the game open, putting Azusa Pacific up 10–4 at the time. Chapman didn't help itself either by committing 4 errors in the first three innings that led to 7 unearned Cougar runs. Still, the Cougars used 8 hits to chase Panther ace Justin Miner for the second inning was over.

Cougar third baseman Greg Folsom had 2 more hits, including a fourth inning solo home run, to push his heating streak to a career-best 20 games. Senior outfielder Jeff Kurey went 4–for-5 with two runs scored to aid the Cougar cause.

Panther Don Disbro hammered a pair of home runs, his second and third of the season, to lead Chapman. He finished the game 4-for-5 with 3 RBIs.

Azusa Pacific, which is ranked No. 25 in the NAIA improves to 22-8 overall, while Chapman, which hasn't won in Azusa since 1985 (a string of 5 straight losses), falls to 15–12.
