Azusa Pacific Buries Point Loma

SAN DIEGO, CALIF. -- The NAIA's No. 13-ranked Azusa Pacific cruised to a 92-74 Golden State Athletic Conference victory over Point Loma Nazarene in Golden gymnasium.

The Cougars led by as much as 14 points in the first half, including a 21-7 margin very early in the game.

The game was delayed approximately 30 minutes during halftime, after a student dunked and shattered a backboard. Both teams returned to their locker rooms until a new board could be put into place.

The Cougars liked the new backboard very much, hitting 50.6% from the field and going 5-of-8 from the three-point territory (.625). The Cougars tallied 57 points in the second half.

Eric Wattree led four APU players in double-figure scoring with 20 points. Tim Sebek added 19, Ricky Blackmon had 16, and Paul Perkins had 10 points and 14 rebounds.

Jason McKenzie matched his career high of 29 points for the Crusaders, hitting 5-of-11 three point attempts.

Azusa Pacific remains tied for the GSAC lead (7-2) with Westmont, and improves to 20-5 overall. Point Loma falls 3-6 in GSAC play, and 12-13 overall.
