Tutt Takes Over

AZUSA, CALIF. -- In his first collegiate start, freshman Raymond Tutt scored a career-high 32 points, including 19 in the first half, to lead Azusa Pacific to a 104-84 Golden State Athletic Conference victory over Southern California College in the Cougardome, Friday night.

Tutt, who entered this week as the NAIA's top three-point shooter (.571) replaced the injured Ed Forney on the front line after Forney went down early this week with a strained knee ligament. Tutt's 32 points are the most by a Cougar this year.

Senior guard Scott Day, who has scored just 18 points in his three previous games, broke out of his slump with 26 points tonight. Ronnie Winbush chipped in with 17 points, a game-14 rebounds, and six assist.

The Cougars used a 13-0 run midway through the first half to take a 35-12 lead with eight minutes left in the half. The Vanguards never were closer than 13 points the rest of the way.

Azusa Pacific, ranked No. 10 in the NAIA, improves to 21-3 overall and a GSAC-leading 6-1. SCC falls to 11-12 overall and 2-5 in the GSAC.
