Biography
THIS YEAR: Senior Colleen Walker was an offensive force last season finishing second on the team in kills … Is one of four upper classman that will provide leadership to the young team … Is solid offensively and hits at a high level giving the Cougars a different look … Will be one of the team's top offensive threats and could push for postseason honors.
2004: Appeared in 33 matches, 31 of which she started in having a solid all-around season … Named a 2004 Daktronics NAIA All-American Scholar Athlete … Was second on the team with 339 kills … Averaged 3.08 kills per game … Had a solid well-rounded season that included 358 digs, 43 blocks, and a team-high 50 aces … Was fourth in the GSAC with an average 0.45 aces per game … Was one of the Cougars' most consistent offensive players with 21 double-digit kill matches … Got off to a great start as she averaged 3.89 kills per game and 3.05 digs per game over the first five matches of the season … Set a season-high with 21 kills in a win over Cal Baptist (Sept. 14) … Recorded 13 kills, 5 blocks, and a season-high 26 digs in a win over Hope International (Oct. 12).
IONA: Played 2 seasons at NCAA Division I Iona in New Rochelle, N.Y. … Was the Gaels' top outside hitter as a 2003 sophomore when she led them with 456 kills (3.86 kpg.), becoming the first Gael under fourth-year head coach Bob Weiner to record 400 kills … Named All-Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) second team … Hit at a .273 clip and was second on the team with 44 aces and 302 digs … Also had 41 blocks … Earned MAAC Player of the Week honors in the final week of the regular season … Recorded a career-high 33 kills in a career-high 72 attempts vs. Canisius (Nov. 8), the tenth highest kill total in the NCAA in 2003 … Also had a career-high 20 digs vs. Fairfield (Oct. 15), a career-high 7 blocks vs. Providence (Oct. 4) and a career-high 6 aces vs. Loyola (Oct. 31) … As a 2002 freshman, recorded 140 kills and 110 digs in 33 matches for the 25-12 Gaels.
HIGH SCHOOL: Prepped at Torrey Pines High in San Diego, Calif., which was the top-ranked volleyball team in California and second-ranked in the United States … Led Torrey Pines to a pair of Palomar League titles in 2000 and 2001, including a state championship match appearance in 2001.
PERSONAL: Born Jan. 28, 1984, in Mt. Kisco, N.Y. … Has one sister (Janine) … Majoring in liberal studies with a minor in Spanish … Would like to be an elementary school teacher after graduation … Was actively involved in the Interact and Christian clubs in high school and was a member of the National Honor Society … Has been on several Mexico missions trips.
