Biography
THIS YEAR: One of the strongest quarter-milers in the Pacific West Conference, junior Ki’ana Thomas excels in both the 400 meters and 400-meter hurdles … Tends to be a tad stronger in the hurdles race and has her eyes set on qualifying for the NCAAs … Figures to be a key person in the Cougars’ 4x400-meter relay as well … Should press for conference crowns in 400 and 400 hurdles.
2018 (sophomore): Put together a strong first year at Azusa Pacific, posting the team’s second best times in the 200 (25.21), 400 (57.28) and 400 hurdles (1:00.69) … Won the Cal State Fullerton Titan Twilight 400 hurdles with her season-best … Was the PacWest runner-up in the 400 hurdles (1:00.96) and ran the opening leg on the Cougars’ 4x400 relay (3:53.38) that also finished second at the PacWest … Also ran the third leg on the Cougars’ season-best 4x100 relay (47.25) that finished fourth the Pomona-Pitzer Invite … Finished the year with the 22nd best 400 hurdles time in NCAA DII.
MISSISSIPPI VALLEY: Spent her 2017 freshman season at NCAA Division I Mississippi Valley … Appeared in 16 meets for the Devilettes, including three cross country races in the fall … Recorded season-bests of 26.09 in the 200, 57.28 in the 400, and 1:01.82 in the 400-hurdles … Finished fifth in the 400-hurdles (1:03.85) at the Southwestern Athletic Conference meet … Won the Mississippi College Season Opener 400-hurdles with a 1:01.82.
HIGH SCHOOL: Ran two seasons of track at Kapolei (Hawaii) High where as a 2016 senior she set the school record in the 400 (59.28) when she finished fourth in the state meet … As a 2015 junior, set the school record in the 200 (26.24) … Ran the 300 hurdles only as a junior, posting a personal-best of 45.60 to win the Oahu Interscholastic Association Wester Division title.
