THIS YEAR: One of the Cougars’ most promising young distance runners, sophomore Jenna Wilson is part of a deep distance group that makes Azusa Pacific a formidable foe in every scoring meet … Excels in the 800 and 1500.
2018 (freshman): After bolting onto the scene with a surprisingly strong cross country campaign, had to endure an injury-plagued track season, appearing in just one indoor meet and a handful of outdoor competitions … Recorded a 2:24.07 in the indoor 800 in mid-January … Did not compete in the outdoor season until April, clocking a best of 2:16.43 in the 800 at the Bryan Clay Invitational … At the PacWest Championships in Fresno, finished fourth in the 800 with a 2:17.79.
CROSS COUNTRY: As a walk-on, surprised coaches by emerging as the Cougars’ top runner in 4 of the 5 events she ran as a 2017 sophomore … Named PacWest Freshman of the Year … Was fourth as the Coyote Challenge with a 5K time of 17:59.9 … Was 15th at the PacWest Championships with a 6K 22:19.9 … Was the Cougars’ top runner at the NCAA West Regionals with a 22:02.6, finishing 32nd on a muddy Oregon course … While still working through the track injuries of the prior spring, appeared in 5 meets during the 2018 season, posting a 6K-best of 22:12.7 at the UCR Invitational …. Was 39th at the PacWest Championships in Fresno with a 22:15.45.
HIGH SCHOOL: Enjoyed a celebrated 4-sport, 4-year career at Central Valley Christian High in Visalia, Calif. … Ran 4 seasons of cross country and 2 of track & field … Finished third twice and fifth another time in the Central Sequoia League (CSL) cross country championships, leading the Cavaliers to the league crown all 4 years … Qualified for the CIF state championship meet all 4 years, posting a best finish of 16th with a 5K 19:09 at the 2014 meet while leading CVCHS to the state title … In track & field, was a 5-time CSL champion as a 2017 senior, winning the 800 (2:25.11), 1600 (5:18.30), and high jump (5’ 0”) while running the anchor legs on the winning 4x800 (11:22.79) and distance medley relay (14:02.65) … Did not run track during 2016 and made her track debut as a 2015 sophomore when she posted an 800 best of 2:18.68 while finishing sixth at the CIF Central Section Masters … Also lettered 4 years in soccer, playing on 3 CSL championship teams … Named All-CSL first team as a senior … As a sophomore helped lead CVCHS to the CIF championship game … Lettered too for one season in swimming.
PERSONAL: Born Nov. 17, 1998, in Visalia, Calif., to Bard and Heidi Wilson … Has 2 brothers (Bradley, Brady) and 2 sisters (Brittany, Jadyn) … Her twin sister, Jadyn, is a sophomore soccer player at Trinity Christian College in Palos Heights, Ill. … Majoring in Kinesiology … Would like to be a physical therapist.
