THIS YEAR:  A fantastic athlete, the versatile Anna Dean is a quality sprinter and hurdler who should figure prominently in Azusa Pacific’s pursuit of a fourth straight PacWest championship … Has appeared in 27 meets over the past two seasons, competing in 5 different events – 60, 100, 200, 60 hurdles and 100 hurdles.
 
2018 (sophomore):  Had a hand in 17 of the Cougars’ 185 points to win the PacWest championship, finishing third in the 100 (12.42), and fourth in the 100 hurdles (14.98) while running a leg on the Cougars’ 4x100 that finished third (48.80) … Clocked her career bests at the Azusa Pacific Twilight in both the 100 (12.20) and 100 hurdles (14.40) … At the Highlander Twilight at UC Riverside in mid-April won both the 100 (12.03) and 100 hurdles (14.15) with wind-aided times.
 
2017 (freshman):  Returned to track & field after a year layoff and came on strong as the season went on … Advanced to the PacWest finals in the 100 (12.28/seventh), and 100 hurdles (15.91/eighth) and ran a leg on the conference championship 4x100 (46.14) … Ran a season-best 14.95 in the 100 hurdles at the Bryan Clay Invitational.
 
2016 (redshirt):  Redshirted her first year at Azusa Pacific.
 
HIGH SCHOOL:  Was a 2-sport standout at Hillboro (Ore.) High, lettering 4 varsity years in both track & field and soccer … Was a 3-time Oregon 6A state champion in the 100 hurdles, winning the titles as a 2013 sophomore (14.64), 2014 junior (14.44) and 2015 senior (14.41) … Won 38 100 hurdle races over 3 years, finishing second 3 times, and fifth once … Won 25 of her final 26 100 hurdle races for the Spartans … As a 2015 senior, was also the state 6A runner-up in the 100 (12.25) and 300 hurdles (44.64) … Ran the opening leg on the Spartans’ state 6A championship 4x100 relay (47.99) … As a 2014 junior was the state runner-up in the 100 (12.08)  and finished eighth in the 200 (25.91) … As a 2013 sophomore, was also fourth in the 100 (12.48) and seventh in the 200 (25.73) … As a 2012 freshman, was the only freshman to advance to the finals of both the 100 hurdles and 300 hurdles … As a defender in soccer, led the Spartans to the 2015 state 5A semifinals and a 14-2-1 record.
 
PERSONAL:  Born Sept. 22, 1996, in Pfafftown, N.C., to Shawn and Sherri Dean … Has 4 brothers (Spensor, Jordan, Nick, Grant) and 2 sisters (Britany, Rachel) … Her date played baseball at the University of North Carolina … Majoring in psychology with a minor in leadership … Enjoys hiking and writing.
