Eric Barnard

Barnard joined the Cougar tennis program in the fall of 2021 in which he brings a vast amount of coaching and playing experience. Barnard has ties to the Cougar tennis program as his brother Dillon played tennis for the Cougars from 2017 until 2020. 

Barnard most recently served as an assistant coach for the Pomona Pitzer Men's Tennis Program. While at Pomona Pitzer he even stood in as the temporary head coach from September of 2019 until January of 2020. Prior to his time at Pomona Pitzer, Barnard was the head pro at Glendora Tennis Center from March of 2016 until December of 2018. Barnard led private and group tennis lessons for players of all ages during his time as head tennis pro. Barnard also served as an associated instructor for Play Your Court for three years from 2016 until 2019. He has been giving private tennis lessons via private contracting since June of 2013.

Barnard first began his coaching career at Glendora High School, the same high school he attended in which he was on the men’s varsity tennis team for all four years. He served as the assistant coach for Glendora High School for two years in which he helped coach both the men and womens teams. 

As a player, Barnard attended Saddleback College from 2010 until 2012. In 2011 Barnard reached a ranking of 96 in singles in California amongst Junior Colleges from the Intercollegiate Tennis Association. In doubles, Barnard and his partner Will McKinney received a ranking of 28 in California. Following his career at Saddleback college, he attended Cal State San Bernardino and received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Theatre Arts.
