Biography

2025-26 Season Analysis Barro enters his first season at Azusa Pacific as a sophomore transfer who adds immediate length and defensive versatility to the frontcourt rotation. Coming from the University of Maine at Fort Kent, where he averaged nearly 5.0 rebounds per game and was a consistent shot-blocking presence, Souleymane excels at doing the dirty work in the paint.

Prior to APU

Souleymane joins the Cougars as a transfer from the University of Maine at Fort Kent. Before his collegiate career, he was a dominant force at Layton Christian Academy in Utah under Head Coach Bobby Porter.

During his time with the Eagles, Barro established a winning legacy:

  • Championships: Back-to-back Utah High School State Champion (2021, 2022).

  • Individual Honors: A two-time All-State First Team selection (2021, 2022) and named to the All-Area First Team in 2022.

  • Club Experience: Played for Vegas Elite under Ronnie Ross and Kongo Elite under Shaun Green.

Born on June 1, 2004, to Nafa Barro and Anta Ndiaye. Souleymane takes pride in his international roots and positive outlook on life.
