Biography

THIS YEAR:  One of the top scorers in the GSAC the 3 past seasons, senior All-American Erin Arbizu is looking to complete her career with another productive campaign … Currently ranks seventh on the Cougars’ career chart with 85 points, needing just 12 more to crack the top 5 … Currently ranks fifth with 37 career goals … Has 10 goals in 9 career NAIA Tournament games … Overcame a high school knee injury suffered during her senior season to become an offensive force … Began her collegiate career as a defender before solidifying her spot in the attack midway through her freshman campaign … Is difficult to defend due to a good combination of size and athleticism. 

2003:  Appeared in 16 games, starting 15 of them in the Cougar attack … Led the Cougars and was 12th in the GSAC with 20 points … Scored a team-high 8 goals and assisted on 4 others … Had 2 goals and 2 assists in the win over Christian Heritage … Tallied her first goal of the season in the Cougars’ 2-0 win over nationally-ranked Simon Fraser (B.C.) … Scored the game-winner in double overtime vs. Alliant International … Scored 4 goals (tied for second) in 2 games at the NAIA Tournament, including a hat-trick in the Cougars’ opening-round win over McKendree.

2002:  Earned All-American first team honors as well as All-GSAC and All-NAIA Region II … Started all 20 games, led the Cougars and was second in the GSAC with 45 points and 19 goals … Was second on the team and seventh in the GSAC with 7 assists … Named NAIA All-Tournament after scoring 4 goals in 4 games, including the game-winner in overtime vs. Lindenwood (Mo.) in the semifinals … Had 6 games with at least 2 goals and 4 5-point games … Scored a pair of goals and had an assist in the Cougars’ season-opening win over Concordia (Ore.), GSAC-opening win over California Baptist and regular-season finale win vs. Christian Heritage … Registered a goal and 3 assists in a 7-0 win over The Master’s … Was named GSAC and NAIA Region II Player of the Week after scoring 3 goals and collecting 4 assists in a pair of wins as the Cougars clinched the GSAC title (Nov. 4) … Took a team-high 98 shots.

2001:  Appeared in 18 of the Cougars’ 19 games, starting 12 as a true freshman … Made a smooth transition from the back to the front in midseason and responded by scoring 10 goals to finish second on the team in that category … Started the final 8 games of the season … Scored her first collegiate goal in the Cougars’ 2-1 overtime win over NCAA Division I Long Beach State (Sept. 7) … Netted her first career hat trick in the Cougars’ 9-0 win over Christian Heritage (Oct. 27) where she capped a 3-game string scoring 7 goals … Scored a pair of goals in the Cougars’ 3-0 win over Belhaven (Miss.), the first coming just 32 seconds into the match, in the quarterfinals of the 2001 NAIA National Tournament … Had 4 multi-goal games. 

HIGH SCHOOL:  Prepped at St. Lucy’s High in Glendora, Calif. … Sat out her senior year with a torn ACL … Was named All-Sierra League as a 1999-2000 junior, leading St. Lucy’s to an 18-4-2 finish and a Sierra League championship . . . Played for former Cougar assistant Greg Baker. 

PERSONAL:  Born Aug. 26, 1983, to Frank and Linda Arbizu in Upland, Calif. … Has 3 brothers (Frank, Chris and Danny) … Majoring in liberal studies and would like to teach after graduation… Likes to water ski.
