THIS YEAR: Freshman Lola Esparza begins her first season with the Azusa Pacific cross country program after a successful prep career at La Serna High in Whittier, Calif. ... Will compete in both cross country and track & field for the Cougars.
HIGH SCHOOL: Competed 4 years of varsity cross country and 4 years of varsity track & field at La Serna High under Head Coach Joe Orr, consistently earning a spot among the program's top seven runners ... Helped lead the Lancers to 3 consecutive Del Rio League championships in both cross country and track & field, including undefeated league titles as a senior, while advancing to the CIF Championships each season ... Earned Freshman MVP honors in cross country in 2022 and Most Valuable Runner honors in track & field as a freshman while helping La Serna finish second in the Del Rio League ... Posted a personal-best 18:49.0 over 3 miles at the Del Rio Cluster Meet during her senior season ... Also recorded a personal-best 12:26.6 for 2 miles during the La Serna Summer XC Series ... Qualified for the CIF Southern Section Championships as a senior.
