THIS YEAR: Grad student Justine Stecko is the Cougars' top returnee and the leader of a rebuilt women's program ... Is a 2-time All-Pacific West honoree and will push for All-Pac West honors again while pressing the conference's best runners.
2023:Â Ran in 4 meets, earning All-PacWest recognition after finishing fifth (21:09) at the conference championships at Woodward Park in Fresno, Calif. ... Finished 66th in the NCAA West Regional at Monmouth, Ore., helping the Cougars finish tenth out of 24 teams.
2022: Ran in just 1 meet before shutting down for the season ... Clocked a 21:28.7 in Cal State San Marcos' Cougar Challenge in late September, finishing sixth out of 187 runners.Â
2021:Â In her first season at Azusa Pacific, earned NCAA All-West Region and All-PacWest first team distinction... Qualified as an individual for the NCAA Championships after finishing seventh in the regionals with a 21:41.1, rallying from 20th place over the final half of the race run in Monmouth, Ore. ... Placed sixth at the PacWest Championships with a 22:51.1 and was 1 of 3 Cougars to finish in the Top Ten in a race run in Kahuku, Hawaii ... At the NCAA meet in Tampa, Fla;, clocked a 22:24.9 ... Finished within the top-10 in 5 of the 6 races she ran in for the season.
ON THE TRACK:Â Has run 11 races on the track for Azusa Pacific in 2 seasons of competition (sat out the 2024 campaign) ... Has personal bests of 37:13.30 in the 10,000 2022 Bryan Clay Invitational), 17:34.09 in the 5000 (2023 Bryan Clay Invitational), and 10:33.98 in the 3000 (2023 Beach Opener) ... In a pair of PacWest Championship Meet appearances was third in the 2022 10,000 (37:47.87) and fourth in the 2023 10,000 (37:37.63).
BOISE STATE: Spent three years at Boise State, but ran in just 1 cross country and 1 track & field competition after redshirting her initial 2018-19 campaign ... Ran a 19:40.4 5K at the Sagebrush Invitational to begin her collegiate career as a 2019 redshirt freshman, but she did not run again the rest of the season ... Reappeared during the indoor campaign where she record a 5:18.76 mile at the Boise State Challenge in mid-February.
HIGH SCHOOL: Ran for Oak Bay High in Victoria, B.C., from where she graduated in 2018 ... In 2017, became the Canadian U20 record-holder in the 8k, running a 27:39 at the GoodLife Fitness Victoria Marathon in her hometown ... In 2017, was the Provincial cross country champion, running a 16:41 on the 4.2K course while leading Oak Bay High to the team provincial championship as well in a race run at Vancouver's Jericho Beach ... Oak Bay also won the provincial title in 2017 ... Won the two mile at the 2016 New York New Balance Games with a time of 11:31.49 ... Enjoyed a 2016 season that featured six top-10 finishes between the 1,500m, 3,000m, two mile and 10,000m...won the 3000 at the 2017 Victoria Harriers Fall Invitational, running a career-best 10:13.40 ... In cross country, took sixth at the 2016 British Columbia High School Championships ... Recorded a personal best of 10:23.58 in the 3000, the second fastest time in Oka Bay history.
