Biography
1998: After filling a back up center role last season, sophomore Lori Reed returns to her natural forward spot where she is part of a vastly improved Cougar front-line . . . Good fundamental player . . . Aggressive in the post . . . Handles the ball well for her size . . . Has good outside range from about 15 feet . . . Rehabilitating a late season ankle injury which included torn ligaments.
JORGENSON’S JOT: "Lori is taking control of her game. She has been improving her conditioning to do the things she has the talent to do and is vying for a starting spot in the post. Her improvement from summer to fall has been a pleasant surprise for us."
1997: Averaged 3.6 points and 2.2 rebounds per game as a 1997 freshman . . . Played in 30 of the Cougars’ 31 games . . . Scored a career-high 15 points in only her third collegiate game vs. Occidental . . . Shot 45 percent from the field . . . During mid-December, put together a 3-game spurt where she averaged almost 7 points and 4 rebounds a game . . . Averaged almost 15 minutes a contest . . . Collected a career-high 7 boards in her second game vs. Christian Heritage.
FAIRFIELD HIGH: Prepped at Fairfield (Calif.) High, a Monticello Empire League Division I powerhouse, from which she graduated in 1996 . . . Led the Falcons to the league championship her junior and senior years and to the Sac-Joaquin Section championship her senior year . . . Won all-league honorable mention as a junior and senior . . . Lettered 4 years in basketball . . . Earned Fairfield tournament all-tourney honors her junior year.
PERSONAL: Born Loretta Michelle Reed on June 3, 1978, in Vallejo, Calif., to Jon and Nedjma Reed . . . Majoring in management information systems.
