Jason Chacon

  • Title
    Assistant Coach
Azusa Pacific senior Jason Chacon begins his first year as a student assistant for head coach Matt Elofson.

Chacon is a 1999 graduate of Whittier Christian High School in Whittier, Calif. He played 3 seasons of both varsity basketball and football. In football, he was a 2-time All-Olympic League offensive lineman. In basketball, he was a team captain for one season and led the Runnin' Heralds to the CIF quarterfinals as a 1998 junior. Chacon also spent 2 seasons as a student assistant coach for the junior varsity softball program from 1998-99.

Coming out of Whittier Christian High, Chacon was originally set to play football at Azusa Pacific and actually red shirted the 1999 season in which the Cougars advanced to the NAIA Final Four.

Chacon is in his third year as Azusa Pacific's Intramural Director, where he has been credited for the campus wide cult following of the popular "Powder Puff" football league. In his tenure, the league has grown from 4 to 11 teams and is one of the most successful intramural programs on campus.

Chacon is a physical education major and is expected to graduate in December 2003. He is an only child to Nancy Chacon and is originally from La Mirada, Calif.
