Former Cougar Candis Bailey begins her second season as an assistant on Danelle Liles’ staff.
After transferring to Azusa Pacific from Sierra College in Rocklin, Calif., in 2003, Bailey appeared in all 64 games in her 2 seasons, making 26 starts. She averaged 6.3 points, 2.0 rebounds and 2.7 assists for her career.
An exceptional free throw shooter, Bailey shot at .738 clip converting 110-of-149 from the line. As a 2004 senior, she was 11th in the GSAC in assists (3.12 avg.). She had a career-high 8 vs. The Master’s.
Bailey enjoyed her finest game as a Cougar in 2003 when she poured in a career-high 23 points, grabbed a career-high 8 rebounds and had 5 assists in a win over California Baptist. She reached double-figures 17 times in her career.
In her 2 seasons at Sierra College, Regan led the Wolverines, a top 10 team in the state, to combined 40-16 mark and 2 straight Bay Valley Conference titles. She averaged 12.8 points and shot .404 from the field, .408 from the 3-point line and .738 from the free throw line. She ranked among the state leaders with 42 3-pointers.
Bailey prepped at NorCal-power Del Oro High, graduating in 2000. She was named Sierra Foothill League MVP as a 2000 senior after leading the Golden Eagles to their second straight league title. As a 1999 junior, she led Del Oro to the CIF Division III Sac Joaquin Section title and an appearance in the state final four.
Bailey graduated from Azusa Pacific in 2005 with a bachelor’s degree in biblical studies. She is married to fellow assistant coach Justin Bailey.
