Biography

THIS YEAR:  One of the PacWest's top returning players, all-conference honoree Amayah Kirkman teams with Kelly Heimburger to lead what should be a strong Cougar offense ... Brings a wealth of experience, having appeared in 109 games over the past 4 seasons with the Cougars, starting 36 ... Should press for additional conference honors and perhaps regional recognition ... Noted for excellent shooting touch from the perimeter, but is just as adept as driving to the basket ... Has made 133 three-pointers over the past 2 seasons, the most by any player in the PacWest and enters the season eighth on the Azusa Pacific all-time chart with 163 three-pointers made in her career ... Has a played a central role in the Cougars posting an 80-18 (.816) record (53-8/.869 in PacWest) over the past 4 seasons ... Is a 4-time PacWest All-Academic honoree.

2023-24:   Earned All-PacWest second team after averaging 13 points and 4.3 rebound for the 3-time PacWest champion Cougars ... Started all 33 games at off-guard for the 29-4 Cougars, who advanced to the NCAA West Region semifinals ... Scored a career-high 23 points, including 18 in the second half, to lead Azusa Pacific back from a 23-point first-half deficit to an 87-64 (46-point swing) over Cal Poly Humboldt in the opening round of Azusa Pacific's Thanksgiving Tournament ... Scored another 22 in an NCAA Tournemant opening-round 66-60 victory over Cal State LA, nailing 4 treys, including a crucial one with 2:24 left in the game that put APU up 62-56 at the time ... Put together a mid-season 6-game stretch in which she averaged 15.2 points and 6.8 rebounds while the Cougars went 6-0 ... Led the PacWest with 72 three-pointers made.

2022-23:  Earned PacWest All-Academic honor … Appeared in all 31 games, starting 3 … Averaged 8.5 points and 4.5 rebounds ... Made 61 three-pointers on .407 (61-for-150) shooting … Canned career-high 5 threes, including the game-winner with 5 seconds left in a 73-69 victory over Biola (Jan. 25) … Has a season-high 19 in an 88-53 win at Academy of Art ... Scored in double figures 13 times, including 6 consecutive games in January when she averaged 12.7 points on a .523 (22-for-42) shooting clip from the floor.

2021-22: Earned Academic All-PacWest distinction ... Played in all 29 games as a key reserve for the Cougars …  Averaged 5.4 points per game while shooting .463 (56-for-121) from the field ... Went 27-for-62 from beyond-the-arc… Totaled 91 rebounds, with 28 assists and 24 steals … Twice scored a season-high 16 points in victories at home over Chaminade and Academy of Art ... Knocked down a career-high 5 three-pointers in a victory over Chaminade. 

2020-21 (COVID-abbreviated)Earned Academic All-PacWest honors ... Appeared in all 17 games, starting 2 when injuries forced the team to juggle the lineup late in the regular season ... Scored a season-high 5 points against Concordia on Jan. 30 ... Grabbed a season-high 5 rebounds in the home opener against Biola on Jan. 23 ... Averaged 1.5 points and 1.3 rebounds. 

HIGH SCHOOL: Played her first 3 seasons of high school basketball at Lynwood High in Bothel, Wash., before the family moved and finished her senior year at Saguaro High in Scottsdale, Ariz. ...As a 2020 senior at Saguaro, played for Head Coach Aria Ham, averaging 23.1 points, 5.9 rebounds, 4.8 assists, and 3.4 steals while leading the Sabercats to an 18-8 record ... Named Arizona All-State first team and the 4A Desert Sky Section Offensive Player of the Year ... Scored a career-high 37 points in a win ... In the classroom, named to the President's List with a 4.3 GPA, and was an All-State Academic first team selection ...Played 3 seasons of varsity basketball for Head Coach Brandon Newby at Lynnwood, where she was a 2-time All-Wesco 3A/2A first team honoree ... As a 2019 junior, averaged 19.1 points, 3.5 steals, and 2.5 assists for the 9-11 Royals ... Against crosstown-rival Bothell High, scored 22 points, which included the game-winning free throws ... Tallied a season-high 34 points in a season-opening 62-42 victory over Kamiak High ... Named all-area first team for her efforts ... As a 2018 sophomore, averaged 13 points for the 15-11 Royals ... Scored a season-high 36 points in the opening round of the state playoffs to avenge a loss to Edmonds-Woodway from a week earlier ... Earned a spot in the 2018-19 Inter-Tribal Athletics National All-Star Game, a national event that features the top Native American high school basketball players from across the country... Named game MVP after leading her team to the victory with 18 points. 

PERSONAL:  Born Sept. 8, 2001, in Albuquerque, N.M. to Christina and Mike Kirkman ... Has 2 older brothers (Michael, Mikao) and a younger brother (Christian) ... Graduated from APU in 2024 with a bachelor's degree in Kinesiology ... Currently working on a master's degree in Public Health .... Is an accomplished musician and plays the piano, cello, and ukulele ... Enjoys baking and hiking.
