THIS YEAR:  Azusa Pacific's only returning pitcher, sophomore Gina Gepford figures to be a workhorse ... Has an excellent drop curve ... Keeps the ball down.

1998:  As a 1998 freshman, jumped into the Cougar rotation and appeared in 25 games, starting 22 ... Won 11 of 20 decisions with a 2.61 earned run average ... Recorded 16 complete games ... Fired 5-inning, complete-game, no-hitter in the Cougars' 9-0 victory over Bethany in the opening round of the NAIA Far West Regional playoffs ... Twice struck out a season-high 4 in a game ... Was 2-2 in GSAC play with a 2.44 ERA.

HIGH SCHOOL:  Played 2 seasons of varsity softball at El Dorado High in Placerville, Calif., for coach Mary Ingram ... As a 1996 senior, voted Cougar MVP and all-league first team for the second straight season ... Also named to the Sierra Optimist All-Star team ... As a 1995 junior, named Cougar outstanding defensive player.

PERSONAL:  Born July 20, 1978, in Spokane, Wash., to Mike and Iris Gepford ... Enjoys horseback riding ... Played on a U.S. traveling softball team in Europe during her high school years ... Majoring in communication at Azusa Pacific
