Prior to APU

Hughes joins the Cougars as a powerful corner infielder from the Bay Area, where she competed at Foothill High School under Head Coach Greg Chandler. Standing at 5’11", she brings a significant physical presence to the Falcons' lineup and defense.

During her prep career and club tenure, Hughes established herself as a reliable threat at the corners:

• Versatility: Proven ability to anchor both 1B and 3B at a high level.

• Varsity Experience: A multi-year contributor for the Foothill program in Pleasanton.

• Club Experience: Competed for NorCal Choppers under the direction of Coach Tracey Poueu.

Personal

Born on May 8, 2007, to Jean and David Hughes. Emily is a Kinesiology major with a wide range of interests off the diamond. She is a talented musician who can play the piano and stays active through hiking and attending concerts. She also enjoys spending time in the kitchen baking for friends and family.
