Jaime Norman

  • Title
    Assistant Coach
A 4-year starting catcher for Azusa Pacific, Jaime Norman turned her playing gear to become a first-year assistant coach on the Cougar staff. As expected, Norman works with Cougar catchers Shawna Paxton and Sasha Budde as well as assisting the Cougar pitchers.

A former walk-on, Norman developed into a quality player over the course of her collegiate career, highlighted as a 2002 senior when she was named All-GSAC first team after batting a career-best .312 and scoring 30 runs.

During her Cougar career, Norman appeared in 205 games, starting 194 of them. After redshirting the 1998 season, she moved into the starting line-up and steadily improved over the course of her collegiate career. Not only did her offensive production improve but so too did her defensive skills. Over the final 2-plus seasons of her career, she committed just 2 errors in over 400 chances. Additionally, Norman became a threat on the base paths and her 26 career stolen bases rate among the 10 best in Azusa Pacific history.

Norman lettered in softball, basketball and tennis at Charter Oak High School in Covina, Calif. As a 1997 senior she earned All-Miramonte League recognition and team MVP honors in softball.

Norman graduated from Azusa Pacific in 2002 with a bachelor's degree in physical education with an emphasis in athletics training. She is currently working as a physical therapist. She and her husband, Scott, reside in Glendora, Calif.
