THIS YEAR: Carly Xepoleas (pronounced ex-POLE-eus) is a left-handed freshman pitcher with a mature approach who gives the pitching staff a third quality option to complement the two righthanders ... Gives hitters a different look with good ball movement and change of speeds ... Will be used both as a starter and out of the bullpen.

HIGH SCHOOL: Played two seasons of varsity softball at Del Oro High School in Loomis, Calif., for head coach Sean Erickson ... Helped lead Del Oro to a 19-5 campaign and a Sierra Foothill League title with a 13-2 league record her junior year, making 10 appearances for 22 innings for a 3.50 ERA ... Registered all but one of her team's pitching decisions as a senior in 2013, going 14-12 with a 2.78 ERA ... Threw 17 complete games and logged 151 innings, striking out 148 and holding opponents to a .199 batting average ... Tossed two shutouts, including a nine-strikeout performance in a 1-0 win over Benicia ... Struck out 14 in a complete-game win over Granite Bay.

Has one older brother (Ryan) who plays college baseball at George Washington University, an NCAA Division I program in the Atlantic 10 Conference ...
