Biography

THIS YEAR: At the Fall ITA West Regional, Bautista reached the finals in doubles and reached the round of 16 as an unseeded player in singles. She has already established herself as one of the conference’s toughest doubles players and is emerging as a potential All-PacWest selection in singles too. She’ll be in a position to face some of the best talent in the PacWest in singles, and her first two seasons with the Cougars have proven that she is up for the challenge.
 
2024: Named PacWest Player of the Week on February 20 after going undefeated in singles and doubles in wins over Cal State LA and Westcliffe… Selected to Second Team All-PacWest for doubles with partner Julia Jordan… Earned recognition on the Academic All-PacWest Team… Tallied a 15-5 record in singles, playing primarily at No. 3 singles… Had a 16-5 record in doubles with Jordan… Had seven-match winning streak in singles that included a 7-6(5), 2-6, 10-7 win at No. 3 singles against Hawai`i Hilo’s Hikari Osaki… Tallied back-to-back wins against Concordia’s Tiffany Carrillo, including a 6-2, 6-1 win in the PacWest Championships semifinals… Started the season with a seven-match winning streak in doubles… Won both doubles sets in the NCAA tournament 6-1, beating Point Loma in the regional stage and then Nebraska Kearney at nationals.
 
2023: Named to Academic All-PacWest Team… Recorded a 14-8 singles record, playing between No. 2 and No. 4 singles… Went 10-1 in doubles, including a 9-0 mark at No. 2 doubles with Miruna Tudor… Went on a five-match winning streak in singles in the second half of March that included two wins over Biola’s Alexandria Mann… Defeated Concordia’s Alyssa Zayat at both the PacWest Championships semifinals and the NCAA West Regional, helping the Cougars win both matches… Won her singles match at the NCAA National Championships, winning 6-4, 6-1 at No. 4 singles against Washburn… Finished the year on a nine-match winning streak in doubles, which includes a 6-2 win against Hawai`i Pacific’s First Team All-PacWest duo of Elodie Busson and Abigail Wild in the PacWest Championship match.
 
HIGH SCHOOL: Played varsity tennis at Walnut High School under head coach Lee Shiomoto as a freshman… Named Rookie of the Year and won the Palomares League title… Reached the third round of CIF singles… As a team, the Mustangs went 15-5-1 with an undefeated record in the Palomares League… Switched to homeschool after her freshman season.
 
PERSONAL: Born on April 15, 2004, in West Covina, California, to Mario and Viña Bautista… Studying biology at Azusa Pacific… Plays right-handed with a two-handed backhand… Wants to be a laboratory technician or clinical microbiologist after graduation… Enjoys cooking, baking, hiking, traveling and exploring new coffee shops.
