Biography

THIS YEAR: Grandke looks to build on a stellar freshman campaign in which he became the 10th player in program history to record 39 or more wins between singles and doubles in their first season. The 6-foot-7 German will play a key role in the Cougars’ attempt to defend their PacWest title. In the fall, he finished runner-up to Walter at the ITA West Regional, and is a strong candidate to join Walter on the All-PacWest team this season.
 
2024: Named PacWest Freshman of the Year, becoming the third Cougar to win the award… Earned Academic All-PacWest with a 3.97 GPA… Went 21-2 in singles with a 18-3 doubles record during his freshman campaign… Helped Azusa Pacific go undefeated in the regular season and win the PacWest Championships… Went on a 14-match winning streak in singles… Became the seventh player in program history to record 20+ singles wins in their first season as a Cougar and the first since Jakob Schnaitter in 2018… Partnered with Brody Bohren and Constantin Barth in doubles and was a perfect 14-0 with Barth… Defeated Hawai`i Pacific’s Jim Walder at No. 3 singles 4-6, 6-2, 6-0 to clinch the PacWest Championships Title.
 
HIGH SCHOOL: Attended Ricarda-Huch-Schule in Dreieich.
 
PERSONAL: Born on August 15, 2003 in Frankfurt, Germany, to Reinhard and Anja Grandke… Has one older brother, Arne… Plays right-handed with a two-handed backhand… Is interested in working in finance after graduating from Azusa Pacific and outside of tennis, he enjoys playing soccer and reading.
