Biography

THIS YEAR: Bohren has been a key part of Azusa Pacific’s 2023 and 2024 PacWest title runs and is now one of the Cougars’ more veteran players as they pursue a fourth-consecutive title. As a southpaw, he will be especially valuable to the Cougars’ doubles lineup, and will bring strength to the back end of the singles lineup.
 
2024: Earned Academic All-PacWest honors… Clinched a 4-3 win over Concordia with a 6-2, 4-6, 6-3 win at No. 5 singles to help the Cougars land the PacWest Team of the Week award and preserve the undefeated season… Went 7-9 in singles on the season and 11-8 in doubles… Partnered with Cole Rassner and Soeren Grandke in doubles, going 7-5 at No. 2 doubles with Rassner… Earned a 6-2, 7-5 win at No. 6 singles in the NCAA West Regional showdown against Point Loma to advance to the national tournament.
 
2023: Named to the Academic All-PacWest Team… Recorded a 7-11 record in singles with a 10-7 mark in doubles… Changed partners in doubles throughout the season and found most of his success alongside Vili Bonev at No. 3 doubles, where the duo notched a 7-3 record… Earned an important 6-4, 6-4 win over MSU Denver’s Billy McDermott to help the Cougars advance in the first round of the PacWest Championships.
 
HIGH SCHOOL: Played varsity tennis for four years at Claremont High School under head coach Kathy Settles… Captained the Wolfpack as a junior and senior… Named 210 Prep Sports Boys Athlete of the Week on May 30, 2021… Led the Wolfpack to a perfect record in the 2021 season, winning the CIF-SS Championship over Palos Verdes HS… Won all three of his singles sets in the title match.
 
PERSONAL: Born on September 24, 2003, in Fontana, Calif. to Mark and Joelle Bohren… Has one older brother, Leyton, who also played tennis at Azusa Pacific… Father, Mark Bohren, competed at Azusa Pacific in men’s tennis and is now the head coach for both men's and women's tennis… Mother, Joelle Bohren, also attended Azusa Pacific… Plays left-handed with a two-handed backhand… Desires to be an airline pilot after graduation… Enjoys flight instructing, hiking, and spending time with family.
