Biography

THIS YEAR:  A developing player with a sure glove and a strong arm, sophomore Allan Camarillo is likely to be the anchor of the Cougar infield ... Projected to make the switch to his more natural shortstop position after playing second base nearly all of last year ... Has added strength and weight to enhance his ability at the plate.

2024:  Appeared in 42 of the Cougars' 51 games during his 2024 freshman season, starting 35, primarily at second base ... Fashioned a very fine .976 fielding percentage, committing just 4 errors in a 167 chances ... Went 47 chances and 11 games into his college career before committing his first error ... Went 86 chances over the final 26 games without committing an error ... Batted .234 on the season with 4 doubles, a home run and 14 RBIs ... His lone home run was a 3-run shot to left that capped the Cougars' 7-run first inning on their way to an 11-2 PacWest victory over arch-rival Biola ... Had 8 multi-hit games, including a 2-for-4 performance vs. Cal State Monterey Bay in his collegiate debut  (Feb. 1) ... Best showing was a 3-for-4 performance with 3 RBIs in an 18-8 PacWest win over Hawaii-Hilo.

HIGH SCHOOL:  Played 3 seasons of varsity baseball at Otay Ranch High in Chula Vista ... As a 2023 senior led the Mustangs with a .411 batting average with a team-high 25 runs scored in 26 games played ... Tallied 12 RBIs, and team-bests of 8 doubles and 3 triples to go along with 1 home run ... Named to the San Diego Padres High School All-Star team ... Also named All-Metro-Mesa League first team ... As a 2022 junior, batted .282 in 26 games.

PERSONAL:  Born Aug. 5, 2005, in Chula Vista to Jorge and Delia Camarillo ... Has 1 brother and a sister ... His older brother Ali was an All-Big West honoree at Cal State Northridge, where he played for 2 seasons before transferring to Texas A&M last year, batting .288 with 7 home runs and 36 RBIs in 68 games at shortstop for NCAA DI national runner-up Aggies ... As a 12-year old, Allan played for the Park View all-star team that advanced to the regional finals in San Bernardino, Calif., of the USA Little League playoffs ... Team was coached by Allan's father, Jorge ... Majoring in Business Management.
