Biography

THIS YEAR:  Is a complete player who has battened down the hatches in the central defense but could wind up moving to his best position, right back … Is very aggressive and a vocal leader … Is one of the top defenders in the GSAC … Has served as captain the past 2 seasons. 

2005:  Appeared in 20 games which included 19 starts … Despite a late-season injury bounced back to play a reserve role in national championship game against Lindsey Wilson (Ky.) … Set a career-high with 5 points including 1 goal and 3 assists … Scored his lone goal against Southern Nazarene (Okla.) … Had a pair of assists in regional playoff game in win over Menlo … Took 13 shots. 

2004:  Started 16 of the 17 games in which he played as a sophomore … Played a key role in a Cougar defense that posted 5 shutouts … Took 2 shots. 

2003:  One of just 2 Cougars to start all 18 games … One of 2 freshmen and was the first defender named to the All-GSAC team … Also received NAIA All-American honorable mention … Spearheaded a Cougar defense that posted 6 shutouts and was one of 2 in the GSAC to allow less than 1 goal per contest (0.88 GAA) … Scored his lone goal of the season in a 6-1 win over Hope International.  2002:  Sat out the 2002 season while attending classes at Azusa Pacific. 

HIGH SCHOOL:  Prepped 3 varsity years at Village Christian High in Sun Valley, Calif., from which he graduated in 2001 … Was a 3-time All-Alpha League selection … Sat out his 2001 senior season … Named All-CIF first team, Reebok All-American and Alpha League MVP as a 2000 junior … Named All-CIF second team, All-Alpha League first team and all-area first team after leading the Crusaders to their first-ever Alpha League championship as a 1999 sophomore … Named All-Alpha League first team and team MVP after leading the Crusaders to a school-record 13 shutouts as a 1998 freshman. 

PERSONAL:  Born March 17, 1982, in Glendale, Calif., to John and Paula Rotunno … Has 4 brothers (John, Andy, Sean and Jace) … Majoring in business with a minor in physical education … Would like to take over the family business or coach soccer after graduation … Enjoys fishing and camping.
