THIS YEAR: In 3 seasons senior Stephen Hawk has emerged as a key member of the Cougar’s deep midfield ... Earned the nod as a starting midfielder with his relentless work ethic at the outset of last season … An athletic midfielder and a good ball-winner.

2001: Appeared in all 19 games in a midfield role, starting 16 … Scored 3 goals for 6 points … Scored an electrifying goal that grazed the crossbar from 25 yards out and equalized the game at 1-1 in the 70th minute of the Cougars’ 2-1 win over Chapman (Sept. 19) … Added goals against GSAC rivals Biola (Oct. 2) and Christian Heritage (Oct. 27).

2000: Scored a goal in wins over GSAC foes Christian Heritage (4-1) and Biola (4-0), both on the road ... Saw action in 9 games and started once.

1999: Scored his first collegiate goal on his first shot in his first appearance, a 12-1 victory over CS Hayward ... Played in 3 games.

HIGH SCHOOL: Played 2 seasons at La Cueva High in Albuquerque, N.M. ... As a 1999 senior led La Cueva to an 18-4 record and the state semi-finals ... Earned all-state second team recognition ... Was second on the team with 38 points (12 goals) ... La Cueva was 17-3 during his 1998 junior season ... As a 1997 sophomore, played for state power Clovis (Calif.) High.
