THIS YEAR: The Cougars' top returning offensive player, sophomore Sarah Wilson is looking to build on an excellent debut season and push for all-conference recognition ... Rated an excellent athlete who is powerful in her play ... Will be leaned on for leadership within a team that welcomes 8 new players to the program.
2023: Put together an outstanding rookie season in which she was third on the team in kills with 223, the most by a Cougar freshman since Annaka Jorgenson's 336 in 2019 ... Started all 28 matches, appearing in 94 of the Cougars' 102 sets played ... Averaged 2.37 kills per set and 2.64 points per set ... Recorded a career-high 15 kills, playing in just 4 sets of a 5-set win over Concordia at home ... Needed just one week of college play to find her comfort zone, putting together 4-match stretch during the second week of the season in which she tallied 52 kills in just 15 sets (3.5 kills/set and a .238 attack percentage), leading Azusa Pacific to a trio of victories ... In all, had 9 matches of double-digit kills, including 14 each vs. DII west region powers Northwest Nazarene and Cal Poly Pomona.
HIGH SCHOOL: Played 3 seasons of varsity volleyball at Great Oak High in Temecula, Calif. ... Guided the Wolfpack to a 35-19 (.648) record during her final 2 years ... Her 2020 sophomore campaign was canceled because of COVID ... Led the Wolfpack to a pair of CIF appearances ... As a 2022 senior, named Riverside Press Enterpriese All-Inland Empire second team after leading Great Oak to a 17-13 record.
