THIS YEAR: A talented athlete, senior captain Matt Hall will spend the majority of his time at an outside midfield position ... A gifted student, Hall is a 2-time NAIA All-American Scholar Athlete. 

2000: Named NAIA All-American Scholar Athlete . . . Ranked fifth on the team in scoring with 13 points, scoring 3 goals and handing out 7 assists ? Scored the Cougars' only goal in a triple- overtime, 2-1 loss to Westmont in the NAIA Region II Championship . . . Registered assists in 4 consecutive games . . . Tallied a goal and 2 assists in a 4-1 victory over the College of Notre Dame. 

1999: Earned NAIA All-American Scholar Athlete recognition . . . Scored goals in consecutive 2-1 overtime victories over GSAC opponents Westmont and Point Loma Nazarene, including the game-winner against the Crusaders (after assisting the Cougars' first goal) . . . Scored the first of 3 first-half goals in a 3-0 win over CS Hayward in the first round of the NAIA Region II Playoffs . . . Started 21 games. 

1998: Appeared in 17 of the Cougars' 19 games, missing the final 2 with an injury . . . Had 4 shots on goal, 2 at Claremont-Mudd and 2 more at Concordia. 

1997: Attended Azusa Pacific and practiced with the team but did not play in any games. 

HIGH SCHOOL: Was a 2-time All-South Coast League honoree at San Clemente (Calif.) High . . . Named team captain and MVP during his senior season in which he led the Tritons to the CIF quarterfinals . . . Named by the L.A. Times as the most underrated player in Orange County . . . Also lettered in football and earned all-league recognition . . . Also ran 2 years of track, competing in the 400m . . . Graduated in 1997 as the class valedictorian with a 4.15 GPA. 

PERSONAL: Born Jan. 8, 1979, in Redlands, Calif., to Steve and Linda Hall . . . Is 1 of 3 children . . . His dad played football at Whittier College . . . Brother, Brett, played football at Shepherd College in Shepherdstown, W.V.
