Biography
THIS YEAR: Now in her fourth year in the program, redshirt junior Kendyl MacAskill is primed to play a key offensive role for Azusa Pacific ... Will team well with newcomers Anya Green and Amanda Albertini along with returnee Sarah Wilson to give Azusa Pacific a potent and diverse attack.
2023: Started all 28 Cougar matches during her 2023 sophomore season, tallying 175 kills in 101 sets ... Was second on the team with 84 blocks ... Registered a career-high 12 kills to go along with 5 blocks in a 5-set win over Concordia, tallying 2 of the matches' final 3 points with kills to complete the Cougar comeback ... Also had 11 kills in 4-set PacWest wins over Academy of Art and Fresno Pacific ... Had a career-high 7 blocks (all assisted) in a 4-set win over Northwest Nazarene, and tallied 6 blocks in 2 other matches ... Best run of play came during a 6-match stretch in late September in which she recorded 49 kills and 18 blocks in 22 sets, helping guide the Cougars to victory in 4 of the 6 matches ... Produced a .287 hitting clip over the course of the campaign, but closed the season with a .386 pace (38-9-75) in the final 5 matches, all in PacWest play.
2022: In her first collegiate action, appeared in 27 of the Cougars' 29 matches, starting 3 and playing in 64 sets… Had 74 kills (1.16 avg.) to go along with 34 blocks at the net ... Came on strong late in the season ... Recorded a season-high 8 kills in the season-finale at Point Loma ... Had 7 kills in 2 other matches ... Tallied a season-best 5 blocks in back-to-back matches vs. Academy of Art and Concordia
2021: Redshirted her first year at Azusa Pacific and did not appear in any matches.
HIGH SCHOOL: Played 3 seasons of varsity volleyball at Palisade (Colo.) High, playing for her mom, Head Coach Wendy MacAskill, who played collegiate volleyball at Colorado State ... Led the Bulldogs in hitting during her junior and senior seasons with 538 total kills ... Led the Bulldogs in blocks all 3 years on the varsity squad, finishing her career with 282 blocks ... Played a key role in leading Palisade to a pair of Western Slope League championships and the Region 3 championship of the 4A state tournament during her 2020 senior season ... Lettered also in basketball and track & field
