THIS YEAR:  Freshman Ivan Vitela brings a history of winning to the Cougar program, having experienced a high level of success in high school … Figures to vie for significant playing time as the season unfolds and he adjusts to the college game … Has a very promising future ahead of him in the Cougar program.

HIGH SCHOOL:  Played 4 years of varsity soccer for Head Coach Michael Zamora at powerhouse Sultana High in Hesperia, Calif. … As a 2026 senior, helped lead the Sultans to the semifinals of the CIF Southern Section Division I Tournament, which included playoff victories over Beaumont (2-0), Rancho Mirage (3-1) and Sunny Hills (3-1) before falling to Fontana … Sultans finished with a 21-4-5 record, which included a 12-game unbeaten streak to open the season, and an 8-0-2 Mojave River League record to win the league title … Was fourth on the team in goals (11) and points (23) … Named the Victorville Daily Press Athlete of the Week after tallying a hat-trick in the Sultans’ 9-0 win over Serrano … As a 2025 junior, tallied 4 goals in 9 games as Sultana went 20-5-1 and advanced to the CIF Southern Section Division I championship game … Was a key member of a Sultana program that went 41-9-6 over his final 2 seasons.
