Biography

THIS YEAR: After missing the final 4 games last season due to injury, senior All-GSAC midfielder David Alapag is anxious to get back to action … Will start at a defensive midfield position … Is the Cougars’ best ball-winner and tackler … Hard nosed … Has quick feet to compliment a bulldog attitude.

2001: Named to the All-GSAC team … Started all 14 games in which he appeared … Missed the final regular-season contest vs. Christian Heritage and the entire postseason after suffering a back injury during practice … Was a defensive midfield presence for the Cougars and an aggressive ball-winner all season.

2000: Appeared in all 20 games and started 7 times ... Tallied 3 assists, all in action off the bench ... Registered his first collegiate point with an assist of the final goal of a 4-1 victory over College of Notre Dame ... In Alapag’s 7 starts, Cougars held opponents to just 2 goals. 1999: Played in all 22 games (started 15) as a freshman, one of just 6 Cougars to appear in every game ... Started 15 of the final 16 games.

HIGH SCHOOL: Prepped 4 seasons on the varsity level at Bonita High in La Verne, Calif., playing for a pair of former Cougars -- the first 3 seasons under current Cougar women’s soccer head coach Jason Surrell and his senior campaign for former great Jason Roufs (the Cougars' all-time scorer and a 2-time NAIA All-American) ... Led the Bearcats to 4 straight Valle Vista League titles ... Was a 2-time All-CIF first team pick and a 4-time all-league honoree, earning the league MVP award as a 1999 senior ... Was also a 4-time scholar-athlete recipient.

PERSONAL: Born Oct. 18, 1980, in Fontana, Calif., to Glenn and Joice Alapag ... His sister, Maile, graduated from Azusa Pacific with a bachelor's degree in 1997 and a master's in 1999 ... His mother also has her master's from Azusa Pacific ... Majoring in athletic training ... Played 8 years of club soccer for the San Bernardino Blast ... Enjoys surfing and snowboarding ... Plays the guitar.
