Biography

THIS YEAR: Coming off a breakout season, senior captain Dan Wilson is looking to cap off what has been an outstanding 4-year career . . . A versatile player, Wilson has seen time in several positions ... Will anchor the defensive third of the field in 2001 ... Has an exceptional work ethic ... Will be the leader of this talented squad. 

2000: Earned NAIA All-American Scholar-Athlete and All-GSAC recognition for the conference champion Cougars . . . Was third on the team with 9 goals, scoring 6 in GSAC games . . . Tallied goals in each of the first 3 GSAC games and again in each of the final 3 GSAC contests . . . Scored a career-high 2 goals in a 3-0 victory over Graceland . . . Scored goals to lift the Cougars to 1-0 victories over Concordia (Ore.) and Cal Baptist. 

1999: Started all 22 games for the Cougars . . . Scored his first collegiate goal as time expired in the first half of Azusa Pacific's 3-0 victory over CS Hayward in the NAIA Region II Playoffs . . . Had 13 shots on goal. 

1998: Appeared in 17 of the Cougars' 19 games as a 1998 freshman . . . Started the final 7 games of the season . . . Had 5 shots on goal . . . His lone point of the season was a crucial one, registering an assist on the game-winning goal in a 4-3 OT win over So. Cal College. 

HIGH SCHOOL: Played 3 years of varsity soccer at Royal High in Simi Valley, serving as the team captain for 2 seasons . . . Was a 2-time All-CIF first team pick while leading the Highlanders to a 46-11-4 record during his 1997 junior and 1998 senior seasons . . . As a junior was a member of Royal's 1997 CIF Division I championship team . . . As a senior, led the Marmonte League in goals scored . . . Started every game over his final 3 years at Royal . . . An excellent athlete, was also an honored player in volleyball . . . Was a 2-time All-Marmonte pick as an outside hitter and a member of Royal's CIF runner-up team . . . Named Royal's 1998 Male Athlete of the Year by the Ventura County Sports Hall of Fame and was a finalist for the Ventura County Male Athlete of the Year. 

PERSONAL: Born Aug. 27, 1979 in Van Nuys, Calif. . . . Is 1 of 3 children for Tim and Lynn Wilson . . . Played for the Simi Valley Soccer Club U-18 team . . . Earned a "B" rating on the California Beach Volleyball Association tour . . . Is the graphic designer for the Azusa Pacific student newspaper The Clause . . . Would like to go into graphic design some day.
