Biography
THIS YEAR: An outstanding offensive player, senior forward Scott Zea is a key figure in the Cougars’ offensive attack ... A streaky player, who when hot is among the best in the GSAC in scoring ... Can shoot well from the deep perimeter and yet will score points in the key off put backs and driving lay-ups ... Is a difficult defensive match-up for any foe ... Has progressively become more aggressive in his play which has made him a good rebounder ... Could push for postseason honors.
2006: As a first-year Cougar, was the team’s most impacting player off the bench and perhaps the best sixth player in the GSAC … Appeared in 31 games, starting only 3, and yet was second on the team in both scoring (11.4 avg.) and rebounding (5.2 avg.) … Drained 38% of his 3-point shots, tops on the team … Twice scored a season-high 22 points, including vs. Trevecca Nazarene in a second-round victory at the NAIA Tournament … Tallied 16 points and a season-high 9 rebounds in his Cougar debut (vs. Thompson Rivers) … Closed the regular season by leading the Cougars to victory over nationally-ranked Vanguard, scoring 12 of his 14 points in the second half and converting all 4 of his 3-point attempts, including 3 in the final 8 minutes … Missed 5 games with an ankle injury (Cougars lost 2 of the 5 games Zea was out by a total of 4 points) … The Cougars were 18-0 when Zea scored 11 or more points in a game.
JUNIOR COLLEGE: Returned to organized basketball for the first time in 4 years as a 2005 sophomore and earned All-NWAACC Southern Division after averaging 15.8 points and 5.4 rebounds in only 17 games at Mt. Hood Community College in Gresham, Ore. … Scored a career-high 36 points on 13-for-17 shooting (6-for-7 from 3-point territory) in a victory over Chemeketa to give the Saints a share of the Southern Division title … Had 21 points,14 rebounds and 2 blocked shots in a win over Clackamas CC … Closed the season by making 16-of-25 shots from the 3-point arc over the final 6 games … Played his 2000 freshman season at Clark Community College in Vancouver, Wash. … Earned All-NWAACC Western Division second team.
HIGH SCHOOL: Played 3 seasons of varsity basketball for head coach Steve Gustavich at Clackamas (Ore.) High … As a 1999 senior received all-state second team recognition after averaging 17 points and 8 rebounds for the 22-6 Cavaliers … Named Three Rivers League Player of the Year and was voted to the Oregon-Washington All-Star Game … As a 1998 junior, earned all-league first team honors.
