THIS YEAR: Senior center Nate Getz is an aggressive post player, who must defend the opponent’s big men and control the backboards . . . Not one to hesitate to dive on the floor for a loose ball . . . Is always hustling . . . Is an above average shooter from 15 feet.

ODELL SAYS: "Nate runs the floor well for a big man. He is one of our best defensive players inside, and we’ll use him to neutralize the opposing post players."

1997: Averaged 6.3 points and 5.3 rebounds in 35 games as a 1997 junior . . . Led team in rebounds 13 times and had season-highs of 12 vs. Pacific Christian and Pikeville . . . Hit the game-winning basket with with 20 seconds remaining in GSAC opening victory vs. Southern California College . . . Led the team with 20 blocked shots . . . Had a team high 6 steals vs. Christian Heritage . . . Scored season high 17 points while connecting on 11 of 14 free throws vs. Claremont-Mudd.

JUNIOR COLLEGE: Played 2 seasons for Gary Kloppenburg at Lassen College in Susanville, Calif. . . . As a 1996 sophomore, averaged 6.2 points and 7.5 rebounds for the 29-5 Cougars who advanced to the final 8 of the state junior college tourney . . . As a 1995 freshman, averaged 14 points and 13.2 rebounds (tops in the Golden Valley Conference and fourth in the state) . . . Redshirted the 1994 season at Lassen after breaking his ankle in the third game of the season.

HIGH SCHOOL: Prepped at Wooster High in Reno, Nev., where as a 1993 senior he was named the Northern Nevada Conference Player of the Year and all-state first team for the 14-14 Colts . . . Averaged 26 points and 13 rebounds during the season . . . As a 1992 junior at Mira Loma in Sacramento, Calif., set school records for blocked shots in a game (8), rebounds in a game (24) and season (373) for the 14-13 Matadors . . . As a 1991 sophomore at Wooster High, earned All-Northern Nevada Conference second team recognition averaging 14 points and 11 rebounds . . . Lettered 4 years on the varsity team and was team captain as a junior and senior . . . Also lettered 2 seasons in baseball (pitcher) , 1 season each at Wooster and Mira Loma, and played a season of varsity football (quarterback) at Mira Loma.
