THIS YEAR:  Junior Matt Kristoff is a technical left-footed player who provides quality depth up front for the Cougars … Made a smooth transition from playing primarily in defense as a freshman into a reliable attacking midfielder last year … Dangerous when healthy, should see significant minutes in the central midfield this season. 

2006:  After missing the first month of the season, was a valuable reserve for the NAIA runner-up Cougars, appearing in 17 games … Started all 3 NAIA Region II playoff games … Scored his only goal of the season in an 8-0 win over San Diego Christian … Took a career-high 3 shots and assisted a goal in a 2-1 win over Fresno Pacific in the regular-season finale. 

2005:  Appeared in 13 games which included 9 starts … Came in and solidified the back, capping off his rookie campaign with a solid national tournament … Scored his only goal in a 3-1 win over Concordia in the Region II title game … Assisted on goals in wins over Illinois-Springfield and Auburn Montgomery (Ala.). 

HIGH SCHOOL:  Named All-CIF Division I second team after leading Southern California prep power Esperanza High to a second consecutive CIF championship match where he scored twice in a 3-2 loss to Damien High … In 2 seasons playing for the Aztecs, led them to a 51-8-4 mark, 2 appearances in the CIF title match and the 2003 CIF championship. 

PERSONAL:  Born July 2, 1986, in Orange, Calif., to Greg and Margret Kristoff … Has 2 brothers (Nathan, Daniel) and 1 sister (Sarah) … Majoring in business … Enjoys surfing and skating.
