THIS YEAR:  Junior Mark Peters returns with 2 years of starting experience already in the Cougars’ central defense … Possesses good on-the-ball skills … Is noted for his composure. 

2006:  Started 20 of the 21 games in which he appeared … Anchored a spot in the central defense for an Azusa Pacific squad that registered 10 shutouts … Was a pivotal member of a defensive unit that allowed only 14 goals in the 21 games he played … Helped stifle a Lee (Tenn.) offense that entered the NAIA Tournament averaging over 4 goals a game, holding the Flames to a 1-1 overtime draw before advancing to the quarterfinals by winning the penalty kick shootout. 

2005:  Appeared in 15 games as a true freshman … Made 10 starts … Made a spectacular save of a shot late in regulation against Auburn-Montgomery in the national quarterfinals when he headed the ball over the crossbar in front of an empty net with the game tied 1-1 … Anchored a defense that posted 9 shutouts. 

HIGH SCHOOL:  Prepped at Etiwanda High where he played for head coach Matt Stevenson … Was named All-Baseline first team after a terrific senior season … Won Eagles’ defensive MVP award senior year … As a junior, named All-Baseline second team … Also played for the Arsenal Soccer Club based out of Alta Loma, Calif., which is under the direction of former Azusa Pacific All-American and MLS draftee P.J. Brown … Held down the central defense for Arsenal’s highly-acclaimed U17 team.
