THIS YEAR: The athletic Ladrick Simon figures to use his jumping ability and quickness to make a move into the starting line-up … Should be a strong defensive player … Has a good jump shot but should score the majority of his points around the basket … Hits the boards hard, particularly on the offensive end … Could be quite effective one he settles into his role as a key contributor. 

2002: Appeared in 34 of the Cougars' 36 games, starting 1 … Averaged 7.4 points and 3.3 rebounds … Was second on the team with 14 blocked shots … Put together the best single game by any Cougar during the season when he recorded a team-bests 34 points and 14 rebounds to go along with 5 steals and 2 blocked shots in a 109-40 victory over Life Bible … All told, had 11 double-digit scoring efforts, including a 20-point game in a victory over Fresno Pacific … Recorded a double-double with 17 points and 10 rebounds in a "Sweet 16" victory over Auburn-Montgomery at the NAIA Tournament in Kansas City, Mo. 

UAB: Signed with NCAA Division I Alabama-Birmingham where he played in just 1 game before breaking an ankle which forced him to redshirt the 2000 campaign … Left the UAB program following the season. 

JUNIOR COLLEGE: Put together an outstanding 2-year career at Southwestern College in Chula Vista, Calif. … As a 1999 sophomore, was named Pacific Coast Conference Player of the Year after averaging 24.4 points and 8.1 rebounds … As a result was rated the 14th best junior college prospect in the nation by Recruiters' Handbook … As a 1998 freshman, averaged 22.5 points and 8.5 rebounds. 

HIGH SCHOOL: Was a 3-year letterwinner at Brookhaven (Miss.) High where as a 1996 senior he averaged 18.4 points and 7.5 rebounds … Named Lincoln County "Mr. Basketball" and All-Mississippi honorable mention … Averaged 13.0 points and 6.5 rebounds as a 1995 junior, earning all-county recognition … Also lettered in track & field. 

PERSONAL: Born Sept. 9, 1978, in Brookhaven, Miss., to Billy (teacher) and Jean (teacher) Simon … Has 1 brother (Donald) and 1 sister (Kimberly) … Majoring in sociology.
