Biography
THIS YEAR: The smart and savvy Kasey Myers is a veteran senior guard who brings hustle, energy and a lot of experience to the court every time he plays … Understands the Cougar system quite well and thus makes for an excellent back-up at the point … Noted for a defensive spark that he brings off the bench … Has some quickness which helps him on defense and penetrating the ball on offense … Has appeared in 17 postseason games, including 8 NAIA Tournament contests … Has spent the past 3 years backing up All-GSAC guards Larry English, Caleb Gervin and Jeff Staniland.
2005: Appeared in 37 of the Cougars’ 39 games as 2005 junior, making his first-ever collegiate starts as well in back-to-back games vs. St. Mary (Kan.) and The Master’s … Averaged 2.7 points and 1.4 assists in 11 minutes a contest … Scored a career-high 16 points in just 15 minutes of play in the Cougars’ NAIA semifinal victory over Robert Morris, making 10 free throws in the final 4 minutes and overall 12 for the game, the most by any Cougar during the season … Tallied previous career highs of 11 and 12 points in games vs. Hope International … Recorded a season-high 6 assists in just 12 minutes of the NAIA title game vs. John Brown.
2004: Appeared in 33 of the Cougars’ 37 games, all in reserve … Best showing came in a win at Fresno Pacific with 8 points in 10 minutes … Had a career-high 9 assists in a win at Hope International.
2003: Appeared in 14 games, all off the bench, as a true freshman during the 2003 season … Averaged 6 minutes a game in those times and made the most of his opportunities, making 9 of the 10 shots he attempted, including his lone 3-point attempt … Got to the charity stripe 19 times in his limited action … Had a season-high 6 points in 6 minutes in a victory at Vanguard … Registered 5 points, 5 assists and 3 rebounds in a win at Hope International.
HIGH SCHOOL: Was a 2-year starter for state powerhouse Thousand Oaks (Calif.) High … As a 2002 senior, earned All-Marmonte League second team recognition as a key member of the Lancers’ 26-3 team that advanced to the CIF championship game … Had 16 points in a CIF semifinal victory over Glendora High and followed with a team-high 19 points in a 61-58 loss to Loyola in the championship game.
PERSONAL: Born Dec. 12, 1983, in Torrance, Calif., to Wayne (accountant) and Cheryl Myers … Has 1 brother (Kevin) and 2 sisters (Kristin, Keri) … His dad also serves as the JV coach at Thousand Oaks High … Majoring in youth ministry with a minor in religion … Plays the guitar.
