Biography
SENIOR (1999): Senior guard Jon Dean has given quality depth to the Cougar backcourt . . . Came off the bench in all 30 games he played . . . Had his best game against Bethany, scoring 7 points, grabbing 8 boards and dishing out 8 assists in a season-high 19 minutes . . . Scored a season-high 9 points against Hope International and had 5 rebounds . . .In first game against Hope, had 8 assists . . . .Is the top best free throw shooter on the team . . . Is 1 of only 4 players in GSAC history to be a part of 4 GSAC championship teams.
JUNIOR (1998): Appeared in 21 games, all off the bench . . . Scored a career-high 15 points against Claremont-Mudd, which included 3 treys, as well as 3 assists, and 3 steals . . . Had 4 assists against Life (Ga.).
REDSHIRT (1997): Redshirted the 1997 season while attending Azusa Pacific . . . Worked out with the team.
SOPHOMORE (1996): Played minimally in 11 games, scoring 9 points and grabbing 8 rebounds in 43 minutes of action . . . Tallied a season-best 3 points with a trey vs. La Sierra . . . Played in 6 of the Cougars’ first 9 games.
FRESHMAN (1995): Moved up from junior varsity and played in the Cougars’ 2 GSAC Postseason Tournament games . . . In 3 minutes had 2 rebounds and attempted a 3-pointer . . . Averaged a team-high 17.3 points and 5.1 assists in 22 junior varsity games . . . Scored 39 points vs. Cal Baptist JV . . . Also scored 19 points vs. Mt. SAC, East Los Angeles City and Los Angeles Trade Tech . . . Shot at a .420 (29-for-69) clip from the 3-point arc.
NAIA TOURNEY: Was a member of the 1996 GSAC champion Cougars that advanced to NAIA Tourney, but did not appear in a first round loss to East Central (Okla.) . . . Was a member of the 1998 GSAC champion Cougars that advanced to the NAIA Semifinals but did not suit up for any of the 4 games.
HIGH SCHOOL: Prepped at Mother Lode Christian High in the Sierra Nevada town of Tuolumne, Calif. . . . Averaged 22.3 points, 9.8 rebounds and 7.3 assists as a 1994 senior and as a result was named the Southern League MVP . . . Also earned All-Southern League first team recognition as a 1993 junior.
PERSONAL: Born April 24, 1976, in Santa Cruz, Calif. . . . Graduated in 1998 with a bachelor’s degree in physical education and is currently working on a master’s degree . . .Traveled with teammate Jason Boswell on a mission trip to Romania. . His sister Rachel is a senior at Azusa Pacific .
