CAREER: Played in 132 games for Coach Bill Odell and the Cougars . . . Averaged 8.2 points over his 4 years at APU . . . Member of the 1,000-point club, joining his father Chuck as the only father-son combination on that elite group . . . One of 4 players in GSAC history to be a member of 4 GSAC Championship teams . . . Second on the all-time career three-point list with 174 . . . Ranks among the top career steals leaders in Cougar history with 154.
SENIOR (1999): Played and started all 35 of the Cougars games this season . . . Had season-high 22 points (8-of-10 shooting) vs. Christian Heritage . . . Had season-high 5 rebounds 3 times during season . . . Had career-high 8 assists vs. Concordia . . . Finished second on the team in free throw percentage making 80.9% (55-of-68) . . . Was second on team in steals with 54 behind only All-American guard T.J. Walker . . . Scored in double figures 14 times during season including 3 times during NAIA postseason tournament . . . Averaged 11.5 points in Tulsa, Okla., during NAIA Tourney.
JUNIOR (1998): Started 38 of 39 games for the Cougars and was the team’s third leading scorer (11.3 avg.) . . . Canned 79 3-pointers to rank third on Azusa Pacific’s single-season history chart . . . Scored career-high 25 points (7-of-10 shooting) vs. The Master’s . . . Had career-high 7 rebounds vs. Southern California College . . . Had career-high 5 steals vs. Western Washington . . . Had season-high 6 assists vs. Bellevue . . . Scored in double figures in 21 games including a 6 game stretch to end the season where he scored 87 points (14.5 avg.) . . . Missed the NAIA Tournament’s second round game vs. Transylvania due to a sprained ankle suffered in opening round game vs. Huston-Tillotson.
SOPHOMORE (1997): Averaged 7.4 points, 2.9 rebounds, and 1.8 assists as 1997 redshirt sophomore . . . Appeared in all 37 games and started the final 21, the first of his collegiate career . . . Led the Cougars in scoring 5 times . . . Had a career high 17 points vs. Concordia in GSAC Finals . . . Averaged 14 points during a 2 week conference span . . . Turned in his best shooting performance in GSAC semi-final vs. Westmont in which
he connected on 7-of-10 field goals for 16 points.
REDSHIRT (1996): Redshirted the 1996 season while attending Azusa Pacific . . . Worked out with the team.
FRESHMAN (1995): Appeared in 22 games as a 1995 freshman, averaging 3.8 points, 1.3 rebounds and 1.0 assists . . . Scored 25 points in his first 3 games as a Cougar, including 13 points in 18 minutes of play against nationally-ranked Albertson (Id.) . . . Tossed in a career- high 14 points vs. Dominican in the Cougar Classic . . . Also had season highs of 6 rebounds (vs. Christian Heritage) and 4 assists (vs. Cal Lutheran) . . . An early-season virus put him on the shelf for 4 games and slowed his progress the rest of the season.
HIGH SCHOOL: Was a standout at Turlock (Calif.) High where he was named to the all-district team as a 1993 junior and 1994 senior . . . Lettered 3 years for head coach Ron Peterson and was team captain as a senior . . . Named MVP of the Central California Conference his senior
season when he averaged 22 points and 8 rebounds a game . . . Was all-conference as a 1993 junior.
PERSONAL: Born Jan. 15, 1976, in Hayward, Calif. . . . Graduated from Azusa Pacific in May of 1998 with a bachelors degree in physical education and is currently working on a master’s degree . . . Spent parts of the last 2 summers in Romania involved with Youth for Christ . . .
Son of Azusa Pacific graduates Chuck and Jodi Boswell . . . In fact, his father, a charter member of the Cougar Hall of Fame, played for Azusa Pacific from 1966-69 and was the school's all-time scorer with 2,090 points and still holds the school record for rebounds in a career (1,373) and season (441).
