Biography
THIS YEAR: A consistent presence in the program, senior Gary Dredge is the only current Cougar to have played a part in the past 3 GSAC championship teams ... Brings a wealth of experience (85-game collegiate career) ... Will press for starting duties again ... Not known as a scorer but rather fills key roles of being a terrific low post defender and rebounder ... Will get points on put-backs and off dump passes. . . Could prove to be one of the GSAC's top rebounders.
2001: After starting as a sophomore returned to the bench and played a key reserve role. . . Appeared in 30 games, missing 8, including the first 7 conference contests, with a sprained knee ligament suffered in a win over Atlanta Christian (Dec. 28). . . Cougars have won 18 straight GSAC game in which Dredge has played. . . Averaged 3.4 points and 3.2 rebounds. . . Registered career highs of 15 points and 12 rebounds in just 15 minutes of play in the Cougars' 78-point win over San Jose Christian. . . Also had 11 rebounds in a victory over Menlo. . . Had 11 points in 12 minutes, thanks in part to a pair of first-ever 3-point buckets, in the Cougars' 100-74 victory over No. 7-ranked and eventual NAIA semifinalist Christian Heritage. . . Averaged nearly 5 rebounds prior to the injury
2000: Started 29 games at center in place of the injured Justin Leslie, averaging 4.6 points and 4.1 rebounds ... Shot 54.6% from the floor, best on the team ... Scored a season-high 13 points to go with 7 boards in the Cougars' 114-106 OT win over Westmont ... Scored in double figures 4 times including a 10 point, 8 rebound effort against Cal Baptist in which he was a perfect 5-for-5 from the field ... Hit the glass for a season-high 8 rebounds 3 times ... Led the team in rebounding twice (7 vs. Dominican) (8 vs. Occidental).
1999: Came off the bench in all 22 games he played, averaging 2.9 points and 2.0 rebounds in 6.8 minutes ... Against Bethany, recorded his first double-double with 11 points and 12 rebounds ... Against Hope International, had 7 points and 4 rebounds in a season-high 17 minutes ... Best effort though did not involve any of his personal stats when against No. 10 ranked Biola he aided Azusa Pacific back from a 20-point deficit by playing outstanding defense and limiting All-American Jack Hartman's offensive output.
