Biography

CAREER:  The burly and athletic Eric Wattree was the Cougars' cornerstone player for two seasons .. Shot nearly 63% from the floor over his career, averaging nearly 14 points and more than 8 rebounds ... Appeared in 57 games, starting the final 56 in a row ... Collected 13 double-doubles (points-rebounds) ... One of the fastest players on the squad during his two seasons with a superb left-handed post move ... Had good one-on-one moves and drove to the basket quite well ... Possessed an innate knowledge of the game and a knack of making the great play ... A complete player who can shoot, pass, and rebound.  

1996 (senior):  Named 1996 GSAC Player of the Year (the third straight Cougar to be so honored) ... Averaged team-highs 15.4 points and 7.7 rebounds ... Extremely consistent, scored 10-or-more points in 30 games and had 6-or-more rebounds 26 times ... Scored 20-or-more points 9 times ... Led the team with 10 double-doubles ...Posted 23 points (10-for-12 from the floor) and 12 rebounds in the Cougars' GSAC Tourney semi-final victory over Cal Baptist ... Had 42 points in back-to-back games vs. NCAA Division II members Cal State Hayward (22) and Cal State Dominguez Hills (20), thanks in part to 19-for-21 shooting from the floor ... Had 19 points and season-high 14 rebounds in victory over Cal Lutheran ... Shot 63% (201-for-317) from the floor, which was among the NAIA's top 15 in the nation ... Hit the game-winning shot with 4 seconds left in the Cougars' 66-64 victory at Westmont.

1995 (junior):  Missed the first 10 games of the season to satisfy NAIA transfer requirements ... First played against Cal State Dominguez Hills and then started the final 22 games of the season ... Averaged 11.8 points and a team-high 8.9 rebounds ... Tossed in a career-high 23 points in OT loss at Westmont ... Had 3 double-doubles, including a 16-point, 13-rebound effort vs. Mary Hardin-Baylor ... Also had16 points, a career-high 18 rebounds, 5 assists and 4 steals in a victory over GSAC rival Southern Cal College.

WYOMING:  As a 1994 sophomore at Wyoming, played in 27 games (started 2) and averaged over 9 minutes a contest ... Averaged 2.0 points and 1.8 rebounds ... Posted season-highs of 9 points (vs. UTEP) and 6 rebounds (vs. San Diego State ... As a 1993 freshman, averaged over 7 minutes in 18 games ... Averaged 1.6 points and 1.9 rebounds ... Endeared himself to Cowboy fans with his back-down-from-no-one mentality.  

HIGH SCHOOL:  Played at both Northview High in Covina, Calif., and Fremont High in Los Angeles ... At Northview, was a 2-time All-CIF honoree and named Valle Vista League MVP as a 1990 sophomore ... As a 1991 junior, averaged 20 points and 12 rebounds ... As a1992 senior at Fremont, averaged 15 points and 8 rebounds and was on the city championship team ... Won All-L.A. City honors ... Earned MVP honors for the North squad in the Los Angeles North-South game in which he scored 25 points and grabbed 13 rebounds.

PERSONAL:  Born Aug. 19, 1974, in Los Angeles ... Lists favorite athlete as Larry Johnson ... His hobbies include going to movies and reading ... Son of Eric and Val Wattree ... Communication major with a minor in physical education.
