Jeff Golden begins his first season as assistant to Cliff Hamlow. Golden was a member of the Cougar basketball team from 1977 to 1980. He began his coaching career last year as an assistant to Sue Hebel and the Lady Cougar basketball team that finished fourth in the nation.
During his three years at Azusa Pacific, Golden scored 1,120 points in 98 games, hitting at a .535 clip from the field. His point total ranks 9th, games played 10th, and field goals made (496) ith on the all-time Cougar list. He missed only one game during his three years with the varsity team, being selected best defensive player twice. He was an NAIA District III all-district pick his senior year.
Golden attended Orange Coast College one season and was chosen the team's MVP and best defensive player. He graduated from Estancia High School before attending Orange Coast.
