The newest member of the Cougar athletic staff, DeWayne Brewer joins Hamlow and Boswell in the Cougar basketball program.
Brewer played the 1969-70 season with the Cougars under Hamlow, scoring 676 points for runner-up honors behind Dennis Dickens. He led the team in assists (191) and free throw percentage (.870) and was second to Dickens in field goals, free throws, and average.
A graduate of Pacific High in San Bernardino in 1965, Brewer won All-Citrus Belt League honors. He played two years at San Bernardino Valley College, and one at New Mexico State, and toured with Athletes in Action for a season before joining the Cougars last fall.
