THIS YEAR: Senior forward Christian Katuala is an established veteran presence who brings a strong physical element to the Cougar frontcourt ... Embraces the challenge of facing bigger players and using his strength and intensity to his advantage ... Has a solid comfort level and understanding of his role at both ends of the floor ... Has been described as the type of player everyone hates playing against but loves to play alongside because of the way he gladly performs the "dirty work" of basketball.

2012-13 (junior): Appeared in all 26 games, starting 16 times ... Was the team's fourth-leading rebounder, averaging 3.4 rebounds per game, and led the team in total offensive rebounds with 46 ... Had the third-best individual shooting percentage, sinking 59-of-107 shots (55.1 percent) and averaging 5.6 points per game ... Picked up his first career double-double, hitting six-of-six field goals to score 14 points with a career-high 10 rebounds in a victory over Holy Names ... Scored in double figures six times, tying his career scoring high with 15 points against Northwest Nazarene.

2011-12 (sophomore): Played in all 32 games as a reserve in his sophomore season of eligibility ... Averaged 3.9 points and 3.4 rebounds in 16.6 minutes of action per game ... Was the team's No. 5 rebounder, grabbing 109 total rebounds, including 42 offensive boards ... Shot 56 percent (44-for-78) from the field ... Registered double figures in scoring four times, including a season-high 13 points along with five rebounds in a productive 15 minutes on the road at The Master's ... Grabbed a season-high seven rebounds in two different games.

2010-11 (redshirt): Redshirted the season while recovering from a knee surgery to repair cartilage damage.

2009-10 (freshman): As a 17-year old true-freshman, appeared in 32 of the Cougars' 38 games, missing six games in late December/early January with a knee injury ... Averaged 4.1 points, 3.4 rebounds and 15 minutes of playing time ... Came on strong at the NAIA Tournament in Kansas City, Mo., scoring a season-high 15 points to go along with six rebounds in 17 minutes of play in a second-round win over Westminster ... Recorded seven points and six rebounds in 17 minutes of action in the national championship game vs. Oklahoma Baptist ... Was 13-for-15 at the line in the NAIA Tournament after converting just 50-percent of his free throws in the regular season ... Had 14 points in 23 minutes in a win over California Baptist ... Had nine points and a season-high nine rebounds vs. Mesa State.

HIGH SCHOOL: Played three seasons of varsity basketball for head coach Dave Kleckner at local power Etiwanda High ... Helped lead the Eagles to three straight Baseline League titles and a trio of CIF playoff appearances ... As a 2009 senior helped lead the Eagles to a 25-6 record, averaging 11.8 points and 6.3 rebounds ... Best effort came against Dana Hills High in which he tallied a career-high 26 points to go along with 10 rebounds and three assists to lead Etiwanda to a CIF second-round playoff victory ... Also had 16 points and 11 rebounds against El Camino High in the opening round of the state tournament ... As a 2008 junior, was a key player on Etiwanda's CIF runner-up squad that went 31-3, averaging 7.5 points a game ... As a 2007 sophomore, came off the bench averaging 3.9 points in 29 games played for the 22-8 Eagles.

PERSONAL: Born Oct. 3, 1992, in France ... His mother is Maryjean (nurse) ... Has three brothers (Patrick, Joe, Omar) and three sisters (Mimi, Jeanine, Monique) ... Came to the United States in 2004 ... Didn't play basketball until his freshman year at Etiwanda.
